For those of you that have been to a speed dating session, either with Star Speed Dating or elsewhere, you'll know that it can be an experience not to be missed.
But for those who are perhaps a little newer to the speed dating scene, we've provided you with some useful hints and tips to help your evening go as smoothly as possible.
What should I
wear? First impressions count for a lot in speed dating, so remember that what you wear will tell your date's a lot about your personality. Try to wear something comfortable that says a lot about you.
What should I
say?Everyone's different. People you meet on throughout the evening may be more or less confident than you, so just keep it simple. Ask people about themselves and take it from there.
It's a good way to find out whether a person is into the same things as you, and whether you'd make a good match. Ask what they do in their spare time; this should lead to a response that tells you a lot about what they like.
Try to ask different questions to different people. Being repetetive could mean you'll have the same conversation over and over again.
Be generous with compliments. Everyone likes to hear positive things about themselves, be it about their appearence, clothes or personality. If you like something about someone, tell them. It's a great start.
What if I am
not attracted to someone as soon as I see them? Every one of us looks for different things in a partner, so of course it is to be expected that at some point, you're going to meet someone who doesn't quite take your fancy.
Remember, you might not fancy them, but you never know, they could become a great friend. Still take the time to find out about them and their interests, you may have a lot in common.
Even if you have little in common, be friendly. They're there to enjoy themselves too, so make plenty of postive efforts.
I've found a
match, what should I write in my email? Be friendly, and don't make it too long. Make a reference to the conversation you had at the Star Speed Dating event. This shows you were paying attention and were interested in what they had to say.
If you want to see them again, let them know. Ask them if they are free to go out for a meal or a drink. If you feel comfortable enough, give them your mobile number. All they have at the moment is your email address.
